He posted 25 top 10 finishes, to go along with one individual title. In 1992 and 1993 he competed in the United States Amateur. After playing professionally for four years, he began his teaching career at the end of 1998. Chris has built spectacular teaching career for the past 15 years and has been voted by Golf Digest a Top Instructor in the state of Louisiana.
Chris averages an incredible 1250 lessons a year and continues to have great relationships and progress with each of his students.
“My goals for my clients are steady progress toward long lasting improvement. No two players are the same, so in my initial diagnostic, it's my job to ascertain what personality type, how they compute information, skill level, athleticism, flexibility,
attitude, etc... And formulate my game plan, so I can achieve the desired result in a fashion that they can repeat out on the course, or under pressure in a tournament.”
“I am one of the truly fortunate people that get to love what they do. I have never gotten out of bed in the morning and said, “I don't feel like making someone happy today." Watching someone go from strength to strength is so rewarding. Seeing a player's eyes, when they do something they couldn't do before, is a feeling that rivals Christmas morning as a kid. And knowing you had a little something to do with that is why I have never worked a single day in the past 15 years.”
Testimonials:
"When I first starting working with Chris I had a 9 handicap. It is now less than 3. We have become good friends as well. We both get a lot done as well as laugh a lot at our lessons. His communication skills are outstanding! I marvel at his ability to communicate golf to the A+ players, the B players, as well as the beginner. Chris gets compliments across the handicap board on his teaching skills and the results his students achieve. Chris gets as much joy teaching the beginner or the pro level player. With pleasure I recommend Chris Popp. He is a A+ teacher and A+ person!" -Dr. Buddy Donaldson
